A man called a woman an “Asian slut” — along with other insults — on a Manhattan train before spitting on her and hurling her phone onto the tracks in front of her children this week, according to cops.
The 44-year-old victim was on a southbound 5 train rerouted to Times Square on the 3 line around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday when a stranger started lashing into her, police said.
He called her an “Asian slut” before telling her she “brought the virus,” police sources said.
He also said, “Your mom’s going to kill you,” and snapped that the victim should, “Go back to your country,” the sources said.
When the victim started recording the man, he struck her hand, causing her to drop her phone, cops said.
He then opened the train door between cars and kicked the phone onto the tracks, police said.
He bolted from the train at Times Square.
The victim, who suffered pain on her hand, was taken to Mount Sinai West for treatment.
Cops did not know how many children were with the woman, or their ages.
A day earlier, around 8:35 p.m., a 29-year-old Asian woman was standing on the platform at the 34th Street-Herald Square station when a man came up behind her and lit her backpack on fire with an unspecified object, cops said.
When the victim got on the train, her fellow passengers told her the bag was on fire, police said.
Both crimes are being investigated as possible bias incidents, cops said.
The incidents come amid a recent surge in anti-Asian crimes across the Big Apple.
On Monday, 38-year-old parolee Brandon Elliot was caught on camera allegedly brutally beating a 65-year-old Asian woman — as employees at a nearby building did nothing.
